As a journalist, Ariel has written about truckers on the Iraq-Turkey border, warring lobstermen in Maine, the hunt for buried military explosives, the subculture of dog shows, one rabid cat's trail of terror, the presidential campaign trail, a DC artist who curates street trash, midshipmen boxers at the U.S. Naval Academy, extreme pogo sticks, and the Iowa caucuses, among other things. He also writes essays.
